Here's What We Know

This news story came out in Australia on the 15th: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/15/2685853.htm.

This is our agency's response on the 16th: http://www.cwa.org/response.htm.

And here's a statement from the Joint Council on International Children's Services: http://www.jcics.org/Joint%20Council%20Summary%20Statement%20-%20Fly%20Away%20Children%20-%20Beyond%20The%20Truth.pdf

Through all this, all we can think is “How is this going to affect our adoption?” (selfish, we know)

There are negative reports about every international adoption agency out there, and as with almost everything, you just have to listen with both your heart and your mind. We did our homework before selecting this agency. We have been comfortable with our choice. We even stayed with the same agency when Kyrgyzstan shut its doors.

The thing that bothers us now is that with all this hoopla being said, will the country and/or our agency be shut down for an investigation? We are on the cusp of finally getting a referral! We know it’s not good to just stick your head in the sand and pretend like everything is fine, but we are just so tired of adoption drama!!! You can never completely satisfy everyone. There will always be naysayers. We don’t want to “rescue” or “save” a child. We don’t want a child that was taken against their parent’s will either. We just want to have children and a family. We don’t care if they come from my womb, Ethiopia or Mars! So yes, we just want to stick our heads in the sand and ride this out. We are, quite frankly, afraid to do any research to see if the allegations are true. We don’t want to start over again. We can already tell you that we will find more information that support both sides of the argument, and we’ll just have to make another decision with our hearts. We can already tell you where our hearts are. We're ready. Ready and waiting for our first child.

We are good people. We will hopefully one day be good parents. When will it be our turn?
