Now, when you do a countdown, do you include today? Whatever the number, we're going on vacation next week. WOOHOO!!! I was emailing with a friend today that is also going on vacay next week, and I quickly realized that my top 2 desires for this vacation are to get some extra sleep. When I asked my friend if that was sad, she explained that this was normal for parenthood. Hooray for being normal!
Recent big events:
1) Noah and I had a date night! (Imagine me doing a happy dance chanting "Date night!" over and over, and you will get the close idea of how I felt while typing that last sentence.) We've had date nights before when we're visiting our parents and they watch Little T. And once, our fabulous nanny kept Little T late so we could go out after work. We've even had friends that live nearby watch him a time or two. But this was the first time that we hired a babysitter to come to our house and then went out on a date. I'm not going to lie - I felt a little guilty about leaving T with a sitter. But mostly I felt guilty about how much I was enjoying myself. Because I did. I had a great time! It helped that I was confident about the sitter we chose to use, which was a huge relief in and of itself. Noah and I went back and forth on what to do on our date night, but finally went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love at a nearby theater. It was a really cute movie. Just my kind of chick flick. However, about two-thirds of the way through, I think both Noah and I were exhausted. We kept thinking, "When is this ever going to end?!" You see, these days, we watch about half of a movie before going to bed and then watching the rest the next night.
2) Little T had his 2 year doctor appointment, and he is a healthy and happy little boy. We knew this, but it's nice to get some professional reassurance. :) The doctor told Noah that we're about to hear an explosion of language from Little T, and he couldn't be more correct. T is talking more and more every day! Tonight, he asked for a popsicle. He said it so clearly that I had to look at Noah to confirm that I wasn't hearing gibberish and that T really wanted a popsicle. So cute!
Okay, okay, I know this isn't the most interesting blog post ever, but these are the moments that life is made of, right?
